George O. Vansant, age 74 sadly passed away Saturday January 12, 2019 in Philadelphia, Pa. He was born in Bristol, Pa., after graduating high school George joined the army. His family described his time in the service as a time he was very proud of. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Star; Vietnam Campaign Medal; Purple Heart with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster; Air Medal; and Combat Infantryman Badge. Following the Army, George went to work for SKS in Philadelphia as a Steel Worker. He loved NASCAR, music, working on his old cars, and all sports. George was also a proud member of the Joseph A. Schumacher VFW Post 1597.
George will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 21 years Wendy (nee Mossman) VanSant , his children, Janis VanSant, Dawn VanSant Welsh (Patrick), and Steven VanSant, His Brother Bruce VanSant (Florence), and 2 grandchildren. He will also be missed by his Step-Children and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Tuesday January 22, 2019 from 11am-12pm at the Tomlinson Funeral Home 2207 Bristol Pike Bensalem Pa 19020. Followed by a service at 12pm. Interment Washington Crossing National Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Joseph A. Schumacher VFW Post 1597 at 901 Bellevue Ave Croydon, Pa 19021.
